NKF SURF COMPETITION BEING HELD AT COCOA BEACH

The 26th annual NKF Pro-Am Surf Festival returns to the Cocoa Beach Pier, and just in time for the holiday weekend. The festivities will be held each day starting on Thursday, September 1st and wrapping up with an awards ceremony on Labor Day afternoon, but surfing is just part of the experience.

This annual event is always a beach-lover's paradise that is packed with fun activities for the whole family. The Labor Day weekend event includes food, games, live music, face-painting, a bikini contest, a silent auction, parties, karate demonstrations and of course, great surfing.

The NKF Pro Am Surf Competition is billed as the largest charity surfing competition in the world and is organized to benefit the National Kidney Foundation of Florida. The NKF of Florida is a 501 charity supporting prevention, organ donation, patient services and education for kidney research. The success of this annual event can be measured by the astonishing amount of money raised supporting this worthy cause. In the extended history of this event, they have raised more than four million dollars.

The surfing competition begins on Saturday morning, September 3rd at 8:00 am but the fun starts much earlier in the week.  On Thursday night, September 1st is a “Press and Medical Party” that lets VIPs and members of the press learn more about NKF while increasing awareness. Following that is the registration party on Friday night and the chance to meet and mingle with professional surfers, as well as competitors, fans and locals.

This surf competition allows professionals and amateurs the chance to compete in several divisions, styles and age groups. The divisions include longboard, menehune, super menehune, stand-up paddle, tandem and others.

  2. I'm glad they're having this competition in this place. I think it's the best for this kind of event.
